Your Body’s Many Cries For Water

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

Dr. F. Batmanghelidj’, M.D., wrote one of the most ground breaking and thought provoking books on the importance of water in our daily diet. Dr.Batmanghelidj’ believed that most illness is caused by dehydration.

Dr. F. Batmanghelidj’ was an internationally known researcher, author, and lecturer. He was born and raised in Iran. During the Iranian revolution in 1979 Dr. Batmanghelidj’ was held as a politcal prison for almost three years. It was during his incarceration that he learned the importance that water plays in our daily lives.

According to Dr. B., the quench for thirst can already be a sign of slight dehydration. Also, Dr. B. is quick to point out that sodas (aka pop, colas, and soft drinks), coffee, tea, and alcohol are all very dehdrating to the body.

A simple rule for daily water intake is to consume half your body weight in ounces of water on a daily basis. This would mean that if you weigh 150 pounds then your daily goal is to drink 75 ounces (a little over two liters) of water. This will definitely help keep your body well hydrated.

If we were to look at the importance of water from a philosophical view then we are reminded of how the late Bruce Lee encouraged us, “To Be Like Water.”

I hope that you enjoy the video.

How You Can Start Alkalizing Your Body Today

Friday, April 15th, 2011

It has been great to see in some of the comments for our blog that readers are very aware pH balance.  A few even commented on how they only drink HIGH pH water.  I think this is great.  In the last few years there has been a noticeable change in the bottled water market.  The next time you are at your grocery store take a very close look at the bottled water section.  You will notice a that a fair number of companies now advertise on their labels the pH level of their water.  Some companies take great pride in their high level of pH.  These are the waters that you want to purchase (if you drink and purchase bottled water).  Look for labels that have a pH of 7.5 or higher.

If you don’t like bottled water or if you just want to save money you can make your own Alkalizing water at home.  It is extremely simple.  First make sure that your water is filtered as much as possible (if you are getting your water straight from the tap).  A very simple and inexpensive way to filter your water is by using a Brita Pitcher Filter System.  Brita makes one of the quickest and easiest products to filter your water.  You can find out more about Brita and their products at www.Brita.com.  I would also encourage you to use Google or Ebay and search for coupons to save even more on purchasing a new Brita system or on buying additional filters.

After you have filtered your water simply add a dash of baking soda to your water.  Again, this is an extremely simple and affordable way to alkalize your water at home.  This is a simple step that you can easily incorporate into your daily routine to move your health towards alkalinity and away from acidity.

Drink Pure Water

Monday, October 4th, 2010

STEP #1

One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself (and your body) is drinking pure water. When I’m talking about pure water I don’t mean the un-filtered tap water from your kitchen sink. By now most everyone knows that this water isn’t healthy for you. In many parts of the country you’re told to not use this water for your fish tank. If your gold fish can’t survive in tap water, what makes you think it is healthy for you? It’s not!

The chlorine, industrial pollutants, and agricultural pollutants that can be found in the tap water from your local water company should not be going into your body.

There are other choices when it comes to the water you drink:

Steam distilled water is best for when you are on a cleanse and detoxification program as it can help draw impurities and toxins out of your body.

On a more regular basis you can use reverse osmosis or charcoal filtered water. At the very least get a Brita filter or pitcher system and start removing the pollutants from your water. There are many systems and services out there from complete home filtration systems to simple filters that you attach to the tap on your kitchen sink. Do the research and see what will work best for you and your budget…but do something today to start filtering and purifying your water. For more information on water, the importance of water, and simple filtration systems you can read Rob Northrup’s blog at http://simplesurvivalguide.com/blog/

Once you start filtering your water start drinking at least a quart (32 ounces) a day. This is a minimum…your goal should be to work up to 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water a day. If you weigh 150lbs you should aim for drinking 75 ounces of pure water a day.

The next step in your “pure water drinking plan” should be “structuring” your water. By that I mean boosting the power of your water with super foods and super greens in a product like Supreme Greens – http://www.abundanthealthcenter.com/item/Supreme-Greens-with-MSM—Powder-54.  By “structuring” your water with Supreme Greens you’re literally creating a salad on the go!  This is the level of drinking pure water that I hope you will stive to achieve.
