Eat More Live Food

Step #2

The next time you are in the grocery store look in other peoples shopping carts (while you’re at it look in your own)…how many products are in the carts that are man-made and how many products come from nature.  My wife and I play this game on a regular basis.  There are times when we don’t see a single item from nature in a persons shopping cart.  That always boggles my mind.

Live/Raw Food = Life!  These are foods that are not cooked over 112 degrees Fahrenheit and that are never microwaved.  Live and raw vegetables, fruits, and nuts  are teeming with essential (and vital) enzymes and vitamins.  Start a plan today of increasing your consumption of these foods by at least 25%.  That simply means dividing your plate up into fourths and having one section of your plate dedicated to this new plan.  This is extremely easy to implement and I know you can do it.

Our lifestyle makes it difficult to eat much in the way of raw/fresh fruit and veg, but we do try to eat plenty of nuts.

However, like you say, for most folks, your plan to change what they eat sounds very doable and worthwhile.

Our bodies were not designed to live on a diet of white stuff (sugar, flour, white rice, etc) and processed foods. We are hunter/gatherers by design and we are build for raw, natural foods.

It’s no wonder we have an obesity epidemic in the US and it’s spreading all over the world.

  3. Gary I once heard the best way to shop at the store was on the outside edge. That would leave all of the fruits vegetables dairy and breads.

I aways look at people carts for fun! I look at the person and then at the cart or beforethe cart and then theperson and you can tell so much about anybody just by looking what they are buying!

I’m always amazed what I see in peoples shopping trolleys in supermarkets. There have been occasions when I have noticed nothing but processed goods in peoples shopping.

  6. Great advice! I once heard you should spend most of your time when grocery shopping walking and selecting foods from the perimeter of the store – which is where all of the fresh and (mostly) unprocessed foods are. We try to spend less time in the aisles…

  8. Hi Gary,

What a healthy helpful tip! Thinking in terms of 25% or 1/4 of your plate, THAT I can do! I might not make it that way at every single meal, but certainly applying it more often than presently is beneficial. Thanks for the simple guideline!

    Hey Gary!!!
I really like to eat fresh veggies- specially carrots and fruits- almost all of them. I think I will have to find more place for veggies and fruits in my menu and I believe that Live Food helps keep us fresh and healthy.

    Best wishes, Gosia!!!

  11. Raw foods sounds like a good idea. Which raw foods have natural barriers to thier nutrients. For example, I have heard that oxalic acid in spinach actually precludes uptake of many of the otherwise good parts of spinach.

  13. I agree with you about the live food – however, I have noticed that if we are off it for a while, we have to give our digestive system time to readapt to the bulk and fiber that is in a lot of raw foods…. what do you think?
